STEP 1
– Before you start an energy efficiency improvement, call The Home Inspectors Group 416.276.2706 and they will send you a Certified Energy Auditor. The Energy Auditor will perform an energy assessment on your home.
During this process, you and the Energy Auditor will discuss the options for your home and which will give you the best results. Within 14 days the report will arrive explaining which options will provide the best results.
STEP 2
– Start your project. This may involve improving your attic insulation, wall insulation, upgrading your furnace to a high efficiency model or even upgrading your windows. Once you complete the project or projects make sure to keep receipts. During this process you are very welcome to keep in touch with your Energy Auditor for advice and consultation where applicable. You are not alone in the process!
STEP 3
– Call The Home Inspectors Group 416.276.2706 for your final Audit before March 31, 2012, (whichever comes first and subject to available funding). The Energy Auditor will come back to review the applicable improvements completed, submit the grant application and provide you with a final energy rating.
STEP 4
– Wait 90 days from the date of your final audit to receive your cheque from the provincial and federal governments.
Please Note: Only the homeowner is allowed to apply for the grants. New installations are not eligible in cases where they where installed prior to the first Audit. Only in cases where the furnace was replaced in a “NO Heat” situation can it be submitted for a grant.
